A summer leadership institute where we train the next generation of youth of color organizers, community leaders, and potential candidates for office.
Black Hogwarts has four key components
Intersecting Anti-Oppression Work: "It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains." - Assata Shakur. In following Assata's words, young people will work towards losing the chains, and truly loving each other in a supportive community of accountability and equity.
Civic Engagement: Young people engaging other young people and their community year-round to increase voter registration, voter turnout, and civic awareness for our communities.
Political Education: Young people will explore the history of political movements, understand current political debates, and conduct an autopsy the historical contexts of today's political climate.
Community Organizing: At the heart of our program is understanding the basics of community organizing. Young people will get firsthand knowledge and application of organizing basics and advanced organizing skills.

We are intentional about making the most impact with our programs, and because of this the Black Hogwarts program will be limited to 25 slots in 2018. Please come back in Spring of 2018 for more information regarding application and admission processes.
